Vivo on Thursday launched a new variant of its existing flagship, the Vivo V9. The company has unveiled a Sapphire Blue colour variant for the Vivo V9 in the Indian smartphone market. Let’s take a look at its pricing, release date, and specifications.
The Vivo V9 Sapphire Blue colour variant’s price in India is Rs. 22,990. The pricing of the standard variant is Rs. 22,350. You will have to shell a few bucks more to get the Vivo V9 in Sapphire Blue colour. It will go on sale from May 18 via offline stores across India. Vivo has partnered with Amazon for online sale, and it will also be selling the phone via its own Vivo E-store from May 21. The specifications of the Vivo V9 Sapphire Blue color variant remain the same as the standard variant.
The Vivo V9 comes with a 6.3-inch IPS FullView Display 2.0 display bearing full-HD+ 1080×2280 pixels resolution, 19:9 aspect ratio, with a notch on top like the iPhone X. The phone comes with minimum bezels on the front panel, which offers more space to the screen that makes the phone compact even at 6.3-inches. Thanks to 1.75mm bezels on the side and 5.9mm bezels at the bottom, the Vivo V9 attains 90 percent screen-to-body ratio.
A Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 SoC powers the Vivo V9 with 4GB of DDR3 RAM. There is 64GB of onboard storage, which can be further expanded up to 256GB via microSD card. The dual-SIM Vivo V9 sports dual camera setup at the rear, with 16MP primary sensor and a 5MP secondary sensor paired with f/2.0 and f2/.4 apertures, respectively. The rear camera setup is also geared with ‘Ultra HDR’ mode that ensures detailed image output. On the front, the Vivo V9 bears 24MP selfie shooter with f/2.0 aperture.
The Vivo V9 also features an AI-based Face Beautify app for the selfie lover, and it also packs AR Stickers that can be used on the images to make them more fun. The dual camera setup at the rear offers ‘Portrait’ lighting and Bokeh depth-of-field effects. Besides, the Vivo V9 also packs Face Access 2.0, which maps the user’s face and unlocks the phone. The Face Unlock feature on the Vivo V9 can also be used for App Lock.
Coming to the connectivity support, the Vivo V9 supports 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz and 5GHz), GPS/ A-GPS, a 3.5mm headphone jack, Micro-USB port, and Bluetooth v4.2. A 3260mAh battery backs the device, but without the support for fast-charging. The lack of fast-charging support puts the Vivo V9 on the backseat as most of the smartphones under its price range and even lower include fast charging support, we wonder why Vivo skipped adding such an essential feature to the Vivo V9.
The phone measures 154.81×75.03×7.99mm and weighs 150 grams. It is also available in other colour variants such as Champagne Gold and Pearl Black.
The Vivo V9 is a decent smartphone with notch design. However, we think Vivo could have done a better job with the SoC and battery. If you are looking for a phone with an excellent selfie camera then Vivo V9 could be your ultimate buy as it projects itself as “Camera and Music” expert. However, if you are looking for an all-rounder smartphone with a powerful chipset then you may looks for other options on the market.
What’s your take on the Sapphire Blue variant of the Vivo V9? Would you prefer buying it or you would rather go for the Champagne Gold or Pearl Black colour options? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.
