It has been a rough year for Apple so far in terms of the quality of products it delivers. The company faced a huge backlash from the users for slowing down the old iPhones and now the company has been blamed for the faulty keyboard.
The problem dates back to 2016 when Apple decided to revamp the MacBook keyboard. However, things didn’t go in Apple’s favour and users started complaining about keyboard issues soon after. Fast forward to 2018, Apple has finally acknowledged this as a manufacturing issue and is providing free repair to the users. Below is the list of devices that are eligible for the free keyboard repair program.
If you own one of these laptops and you’re having an issue then head to your nearest authorised Apple Store. The Store will then examine the keyboard and swap the key or the whole keyboard depending on the situation. Do note that it will take some time so you won’t be getting your laptop back for a few days. Apple has also confirmed that these keyboard repairs will be covered from four years after your original purchase date, regardless of warranty status.
No matter what Apple says or does, it doesn’t change the fact that the company is lacking quality control. With increasing competition in the market, it looks like Apple is cutting corners to meet the deadlines which can be bad in the long run.
