The OG returns
The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate announcement came with the best piece of character news: Literally every previous playable character is returning to the franchise. With such a large Smash roster comes the return of some fan-favorites, notably Metal Gear’s Solid Snake, who appeared in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, but not its Wii U/3DS sequel.

In Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain, Hayter was replaced by actor Kiefer Sutherland. Hayter hasn’t hidden his disappointment in being replaced and has said that if it were up to him, he’d “do this role forever.”
Fans were wondering who the voice of Solid Snake would be in the latest Smash Bros installment, since Solid Snake was voiced by Hayter in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Hayter retweeted a mention, revealing he’s returning to the role.

It’s been 10 years since Solid Snake was in a Smash game and eight years since Hayter voiced him. Fans are ecstatic about the return of both. Hopefully, Snake has a bevy of new codec recordings in store for Ultimate ’s massive 64-fighter roster.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is coming to Nintendo Switch on Dec. 7 .
