Square Enix has shown off several worlds that are coming to Kingdom Hearts 3, including several new worlds. Here is every world that has been officially revealed so far.
Lots of news has come from E3 over the past few days, including a lot of Kingdom Hearts 3 announcements. This week, Square Enix showed off several new trailers and confirmed a few more worlds that fans will get to see when they embark on Sora’s journey in January. Here are all the worlds that have been confirmed for Kingdom Hearts 3 so far.
Following the end of Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance and Kingdom Hearts 0.2, fans knew that Sora needed to complete more training before he could become a Keyblade Master. Obviously, there is no better place to train than with Hercules in the Olympus Coliseum. The first Kingdom Hearts 3 trailer to premier back at E3 2013 showed off the open areas of Mount Olympus and a boss fight with the rock titan. This stage is likely make an appearance at the E3 playable demo for attending fans.
Tangled’s Kingdom of Corona is a new addition to the Kingdom Hearts franchise, and it appears that fans will get to explore the world alongside Rapunzel and Flynn Rider as companions. This world premiered during the E3 2015 trailer released by Square Enix. It looks like Rapunzel’s hair can be used for a number of purposes, including navigating the world of Corona.
Not much is known about the world of Big Hero 6 in Kingdom Hearts 3. Square Enix released some concept art for San Fransokyo showing Sora and Baymax fighting off against what appears to be a heartless version of a Baymax robot. There hasn’t been any gameplay from this world, but maybe Square Enix will show it off soon.
Most Kingdom Hearts fans had their first experience with Twilight Town in Kingdom Hearts 2, though it did make an appearance in Chain of Memories as well. In Kingdom Hearts 2, players were introduced to this quaint town during the prologue where they played as Roxas and made friends with the residents of the town, like Hayner, Pence, and Olette. That trio appears to make a return in Kingdom Hearts 3 when Sora and company return to Twilight Town. It’s currently not known if it is the real town or the simulated version, though it is most likely the real version.
Destiny Island(s) is the homeworld for Sora, Riku, and Xehanort. Kairi also spent a good part of her life there after the destruction of Radiant Gardens. The world has appeared in many games, and with it being the home to both the main protagonists and antagonist, it’s no surprise that players will be revisiting the world during Kingdom Hearts 3.
The world of Monsters Inc is a new world to the Kingdom Hearts franchise. Players will get to explore Monstropolis alongside Sully and Mike as they fight off the forces of darkness. This world made its first appearance in a trailer released at this year’s D23 Expo. It also highlighted some interesting new combat mechanics and Keyblade transformations.
Toy Story’s world also made its debut at a D23 Expo, albeit a year earlier than Monsters Inc. Much like Monsters Inc, The Toybox features a brand-new design for Sora, Donald, and Goofy. While similar to their standard appearance, they are styled to look like action figures. Dedicated Kingdom Hearts fans can pre-order a new Kingdom Hearts 3 bundle on the Square Enix store to get their very own copies of Sora and company as action figures.
The world of Frozen, Arendelle, is another newcomer to the Kingdom Hearts universe. It made its debut in a trailer shown during Microsoft’s E3 2018 press conference. The trailer features all the popular characters from the film: Elsa, Anna, Olaf, Kristoff, and Sven. It also debuted new ice-based abilities for Sora.
Fans of the Kingdom Hearts series are very familiar with the Pirates of the Caribbean worlds, as they have appeared in several of the installments in the series. It appears that Captain Jack Sparrow will be making a return with Kingdom Hearts 3, and it seems to be taking place during the events of the later films in the series. This world appeared in a trailer released during Sony’s E3 2018 press conference.
There currently isn’t much information about the Ratatouille world, aside from a small section of gameplay with Sora and Remy cooking. This clip appeared during Square Enix’s E3 2018 panel.
While Classic Kingdom may not be a world in the traditional sense, it’s worth mentioning the Game & Watch inspired mini-game world coming to Kingdom Hearts 3. It looks like Sora and company will get to experience Classic Kingdom when they visit Twilight Town.
It seems Square Enix is bringing a lot of new worlds to Kingdom Hearts 3. While Kingdom Hearts 3 doesn’t release until early next year, Square Enix has given a lot of gameplay footage from these new worlds to make a lot of fans happy. With a good variety of worlds in place, and likely more on the way, it seems like Kingdom Hearts 3 may be the satisfying conclusion to Sora’s story that fans are hoping for.
Kingdom Hearts 3 will release January 29,2019 for PS4 and Xbox One.
