Apple’s WWDC keynote will be happening later today. We’ve compiled a list of ways that you can tune into the event to watch it live as it happens and outlined contingency plans if issues arise.
Apple is going to hold its annual WWDC event later today where it’ll announce updates to macOS and iOS, as well as some of its other products. Every year, Apple streams its event out to the world via its website but watching the event hasn’t always been easy for people without an Apple device. This year, things seem like they’ll improve but we’re not out of the woods just yet!
In a notice on the page the livestream will appear on, Apple says:
With the statement, Apple’s event will definitely be available to watch on macOS, iOS, and Windows if you’re using Safari or Microsoft Edge. If you’re on Linux, you’ll need a browser that supports Media Source extensions, H.264, and AAC; according to html5test.com, the latest builds of Chrome, Chromium, and Firefox support these requirements.
If you’re having trouble after trying the above methods, there are two nuclear options you can resort to if you’re desperate to keep up with events. The first option you have is trying to stream the feed through VLC. The feed URL isn’t known yet but when it does crop up we’ll add it to the article. Once it’s live, open VLC, press Media, then press Open Network Stream… and paste in the URL and hit play.
The second measure is to resort to Twitter. If you can’t pull up a stream or your internet connection is sketchy you can head over to Twitter and search for #WWDC or #WWDC2018 where you’ll get loads of up to date content including content from us about the event.
