Microsoft often runs A/B tests of new features for Insiders, and now the firm is running a new test in the settings app.
With the newest builds of Windows Microsoft is showing some Insiders suggestions in the settings app, prompting them users on things to do with their PCs like how to personalise it and add themes.
Microsoft typically saves such tips for the Tips app, and rarely provides such obtrusive notifications in the main interface of the app, so this is a bit of a change from normal procedure.
Like many things in Windows, you can simply turn them off. However, its a mystery what value this would have to a regular user and whether Microsoft can strike a finer balance between nagging the user and leaving them alone completely.
Windows Tips are annoying on some level, but few users are experts in everything, and more than that don’t even know what they don’t know, Arguably, Microsoft’s aggressive notifications may have some value to the novice, even while they irritate the (often self-proclaimed) expert.
