Freestyle and dance music queen Shannon performed at the 2018 « Blue Party, » which benefits the Specialized Autism Support and Information (SASI).
This year’s GALA event took place at Villa Lombardi’s in Holbrook on Long Island.
As Shannon took the stage, her presence was met with a warm, Long Island response. She kicked off her upbeat set with « »Give Me Tonight. » « How are you feeling? » she asked. « I’m loving it. » She was joined by her two talented dancers, Joah and Gio, who showcased their tremendous choreography and gymnastics/acrobatics skills, which were very impressive.
« Are you having a good time? » Shannon asked, and the answer was a resounding « yes. » She immediately broke into the catchy dance tune « My Heart’s Divided, » where everybody was dancing along.
She praised the 2018 SASI GALA for being an « incredible » event. The acclaimed dance songstress noted that autism is a cause that is very dear to her heart, since she is the step-mother of a little girl with autism, and shared that she can’t wait to see her little girl soon.
For Shannon, the year 1983 was an incredible year for her, since that was when her signature song « Let The Music Play » was released, which catapulted her to worldwide fame. That album in itself sold in excess of 15 million units. She treated the Long Island audience to a lively rendition of her infectious single « Let The Music Play, » which earned her a standing ovation.
« I love you so much, » she said. « Thank you for 35 years, » she added, and she even threw in a cover of Rihanna’s « Don’t Stop the Music, » which was an added bonus.
The Verdict
Overall, Shannon put on a high-energy and fun show at this year’s SASI GALA. It is evident that she is like fine wine, where she gets better with age and experience. It is evident that her classic dance songs will stand the test of time, especially since they are still being played to this day on adult contemporary and dance radio stations. Her dancers, Joah and Gio, were incredible performers in their own right. Shannon’s live show garnered an A rating.
