Capcom’s plans for the PC release of Monster Hunter World are just around the corner, as the publisher announces when it will reveal release information.
The long wait for Monster Hunter World to be ported to the PC is approaching its end. Capcom teased its plans to unveil Monster Hunter World‘s PC release date, minimum and recommended specifications, and storefront distribution partners on social media Saturday Morning. The wait for the new information luckily won’t be too long. Capcom plans to release the new information this upcoming Monday at 9:00 am PT.
Monster Hunter World proved exceptionally successful when it launched on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in January earlier this year. A PC version of the game was announced early, but Capcom was unable to commit the resources necessary for it to launch in tandem with its console counterparts. The issue is understandable because Capcom’s Monster Hunter team has never made a main-series Monster Hunter game for PC before. Monster Hunter World will be the first.
Development of the PC port hasn’t been easy, however. The developers have previously discussed the challenges involved in bringing Monster Hunter World to PC, both in terms of general optimization and specific obstacles related to the platform. Those specific obstacles, namely how multiplayer and matchmaking will be implemented on the open PC platform, will be of special interest come Monday. Will Capcom decide to go Steam exclusive to keep multiplayer simple? Or will it go multi-storefront and manage a much broader multiplayer strategy?
Not long after Capcom announced that new Monster Hunter World PC details would be forthcoming next week, some of those details appear to have leaked. It seems Capcom has already begun sharing some information with its partners, specifically Tencent in China. Tencent’s PC gaming storefront/platform WeGame listed Monster Hunter World‘s PC specifications a tad early and is likely reliable.
There’s nothing too surprising to be found in Monster Hunter World‘s specifications, which is a good thing. The required minimum CPU and GPU are both average-costing products that are five years old and a 25GB install is conservative considering how big PC games can be these days. Your average PC gamer should be well prepared.
All that’s left is for Capcom to confirm Monster Hunter World‘s release date and where it will be available to buy and download. And, if fans are lucky, a potential PC beta announcement, too. Excited fans who have been waiting, or even more excited fans who will be double dipping on both console and PC, just have to wait for Monday morning for the news.
Monster Hunter World is available now on PS4 and Xbox One.
