Monster Hunter: World is kicking off a championship event in North America next week. At stake is a berth representing the region at a global invitational event in September at Tokyo Game Show 2018.
The Monster Hunter: World USA Championship will run Saturday, July 28 from noon to 7 p.m. PT in San Francisco. Registration is open through July 26, Capcom said. Winners will get a trophy, a pair of Monster Hunter themed watches, and a trip to Japan to play the game at TGS 2018.
In the event, teams of two will compete to take down monsters in the fastest time possible. It will be streamed live on July 28 from Terra Gallery & Events in San Francisco; attendees in person will be able to get autographs and pictures with game developers, view an art gallery for the game and participate in raffle events.
Monster Hunter: World launched in January on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One; it’s coming to Windows PC in August, which is a little earlier than expected. Capcom said the PC version of Monster Hunter: World will get free updates and Collaboration Quests following the game’s release, too.
