A few weeks back, Google had announced the rollout of the Android P Beta 3 for its Pixel devices. The same update is now being pushed for the OnePlus 6. OnePlus has announced the Android P Developer Preview 3 is now available for its latest flagship smartphone and comes with a few new features as well as some fixes.
The Android P Beta Developer Preview 3 for the OnePlus 6 brings the latest Android security patch dated July 1,2018, updated Google Mobile Services, improved system stability, fixed issue with hotspot functionality, improved image quality, fix for the watermark option functionality, improved camera functionality with third party apps, and fix for compatibility issues with certain third-party apps. However, there are certain issues as well that you need to be aware of. These include certain issues with system stability and power consumption and compatibility with Bluetooth connectivity. You may also notice that some apps may not function as expected when running on the Developer Preview release. As the name suggests, the release is only meant for developers and early adopters. If you are not a developer, we do not recommending flashing this ROM on your OnePlus 6.
The OnePlus 6 is currently available in three memory configurations in the Indian market. Most affordable of the three is the 6GB RAM variant with 64GB of onboard storage, priced at Rs.34,999. Priced at Rs.39,999 is the 8GB RAM variant with 128GB of onboard storage. Most expensive of the trio is the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variant, which is priced at Rs.43,999 in India. All three variants are available online exclusively via Amazon.in. You can also purchase the OnePlus 6 from the OnePlus store online as well as at OnePlus Experience stores offline.
The OnePlus 6 comes equipped with an impressive 6.28-inch Optic AMOLED display with 1080 x 2280 Full HD+ resolution and a 19:9 aspect ratio. Protecting the notched display is a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 5. When it comes to performance, the OnePlus 6 is a complete beast, thanks to the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor under the hood, clocked at 2.8 GHz with an Adreno 630 GPU. In the memory department, the OnePlus flagship comes in three configurations for the Indian market – 6GB RAM + 64GB storage, 8GB RAM + 128GB storage, and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage. However, just like its predecessors, the OnePlus 6 does not support memory expansion.
In the camera department, the flagship smartphone is equipped with an impressive 16MP + 2MP Dual-Camera setup with both sensors coupled with an f/1.7 aperture. For impressive low-light performance and steady video capture, the OnePlus 6 comes with both optical image stabilization as well as electronic image stabilization. It is also one of the few flagship smartphones to support 4K video recording at up to 60fps. For selfies, there is a 16MP snapper on the front with 1.0um pixel size and an f/2.0 aperture. The front-facing camera also supports features like Portrait Mode, HDR support, Screen Flash, Face Beauty, and facial recognition.
Connectivity-wise, the OnePlus 6 comes with Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, NFC, USB Type-C, and 4G VoLTE. Keeping the lights on is a 3300mAh capacity battery with the manufacturer’s Dash Charge 20W fast charging support. In the audio department, OnePlus 6 comes with Dirac HD Sound and Dirac Power Sound features. Some of the other key features of the OnePlus flagship include a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, water resistance, and an Alert Slider. In terms of software, the OnePlus 6 runs on the Android 8.1 Oreo operating system currently with the OxygenOS customizations on top.
