Were you worried that Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice might not be as difficult as the Dark Souls series? Miyazaki explains how this is not the case.
From Software is stepping back from the Soulsborne franchise, releasing a new IP focusing on the eastern culture. For those hardcore Dark Souls fans that worry that Sekiro: Shadow Die Twice may not be as difficult, Hidetaka Miyazaki has some good news for you. You are going to die A LOT in this game too.
Being famous about their genre-defining Dark Souls series, From Software is taking that inspiration to build Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. The new game will be different in most ways, however, the difficulty factor will be there, kicking you in the stomach every time.
Hidetaka Miyazaki, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice director has recently revealed that in their upcoming game, you will die a lot even if you are not a silver plated knight anymore. Here’s his statement:
We intend to bring the players to death many times, thus remaining faithful to the games we have always used to, even if in this case you are a ninja.
Unlike a samurai or a traditional warrior, you will have reduced equipment and you will always face death, we want every battle to be intense and players to feel the danger.
On the death of the character, he can resuscitate even if limited. You can decide when to resurrect to face the enemy by surprise rather than wasting a second chance, such as waiting for the enemy to move away.
I want to clarify that we do not want to make the game easier with this feature or the less efficient challenge, to die and then come back to life will have its consequence s.
As you can tell, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice comes with a failsafe. You can resurrect once in battle but making a tactical decision about when to take this action will make the difference. This once more shows us that From Software’s new game is more vertical than their previous titles.
This makes us wonder; Is this why the game has the “Shadows Die Twice” in its name? We shall know when the game officially releases sometime in 2019. For now, there’s no stated release date, but the game will be available on PC, Xbox One and PC.
