The Meteorological Agency says temperatures rose to 38.8 degrees on Sunday in Fukuchiyama City in Kyoto Prefecture and Ibigawa Town in Gifu Prefecture. That’s the highest temperature so far this summer. Higashiomi City in Shiga Prefecture had a daytime high of 38.5 degrees. The agency is warning people to take measures against heatstroke.
