Here’s how you can have extra fun on Snoopy’s birthday at Knott’s Aug. 10.
In 1950, the world met what was to become one of the most popular dogs ever, Snoopy. Cartoonist Charles Schulz loosely based the Peanuts character on Spike, a black and white pup that he’d had as a teen, and incorporated him into the gang’s fun, along with sending the beagle on some of his own adventures.
On Aug. 10,1968, Schulz’s comic strip depicted the Peanuts Gang giving Snoopy a surprise birthday party and, no surprise, 50 years later, many of us still have a case of puppy love and celebrate the date as the beagle’s b-day.
Here are 5 ways you can celebrate Snoopy’s birthday at Knott’s Berry Farm this year.
Wear Snoopy attire: Before heading to the park, put on your Snoopy T-shirt or pin. If you don’t have anything emblazoned with the beagle, don’t fret: the Camp Store in Camp Snoopy will have Birthday Snoopy Ears, as well as a selection of other Peanuts items.
Take a photo with Snoopy: Stop by Camp Snoopy and take a photo with Snoopy while wishing him a happy birthday. Snapchat currently has a special Snoopy filter that you may use to add to the fun. Also, use the hashtag #KnottsBerryFarm to share your images with other fans on social media.
Watch “Beach Blanket Beagle”: See Snoopy surf, dance and save the day during this upbeat production reminiscent of the beach movies of the 1960s and ‘70s. There will be several shows throughout the day in the Charles M. Schulz Theatre.
Eat a treat: What’s a birthday celebration without something sweet? There are a variety of Peanuts-themed treats throughout the park, including at the new Mrs. Knott’s Bakery Express. Our favorite treats are the Snoopy sugar cookies, which are big enough to share.
Participate in park giveaways: Just ask Lucy, a birthday means presents. Throughout the day Knott’s will be posting clues on its social media for fans to find a special location in the park. Be the first to arrive at the spot and meet the Snoopy Team for a special prize.
