A motorist was killed Wednesday morning when two cars racing each other collided with the victim’s car near a busy intersection, according to police.
YPSILANTI TWP., MI – A motorist was killed Wednesday morning when two cars racing each other collided with the victim’s car near a busy intersection, according to police.
Two cars were racing at about 10:50 a.m. Aug. 22, heading eastbound on Ecorse Road in Ypsilanti Township when one of the vehicles lost control and hit a passing vehicle near S. Harris Road, killing the vehicle’s lone occupant, Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Derrick Jackson said.
The two racing vehicles continued a short distance before crashing along Ecorse Road, Jackson said.
Both cars had two male occupants each, who all fled the scene on foot, police said. One of the vehicle’s occupants was found injured near the scene and was taken to a local hospital for treatment, and to be detained for questioning, Jackson said.
Police were still searching for the remaining three occupants.
Information on the victim’s identity wasn’t immediately available.
Ecorse Road near Harris Road was shut down and was not expected to be reopened for several hours as police investigated the scene.
