All countdowns are currently pointed at the event in New York on August 9th where Samsung will unveil the Note 9. However, not only is Samsung busy preparing for the release, but the company has also gone on a bit of a trademark filing spree.
While not all the filings granted to Samsung will be immediately used for the Note 9 or any other devices the company is planning to reveal on August 9th, the ten new filings will no doubt form the basis for Samsung’s upcoming products whether that be slogans of feature names. Patently Mobile has compiled a report for the new trademarks detailing what they cover and their potential application.
Samsung filed ‘Load Fast, Play Fast’ under International Class 09 covering the following: “Semi-conductors; Blank electronic chip cards; Integrated circuits chips; Semiconductor power elements; Semiconductor elements, namely, chips and lead frames; semiconductor memories; electronic semi-conductors; transistors; Semiconductor components, namely, transistors and diodes; semiconductor component, namely, semiconductor chips; semiconductor devices; solid-state memories, namely, solid-state memory cards and memory boards; semiconductor luminous element packages; memory apparatus, namely, computer memories and memory boards; electronic memories; electronic memory cards; memory boards; Blank computer memory storage devices; integrated circuits.”
Samsung filed ‘Odyssey Z’ under International Class 09 covering the following: “Light emitting diode (LED) displays; virtual reality headsets; blank USB Flash drives; blank flash memory cards; network routers; digital door locks; digital signage display panels; semiconductors; battery chargers for portable phones, tablet computers and portable computers; video projectors; set-top boxes; smart watches; solid state drives; smartphones; Protective covers for smartphones; Audio speakers; Audio electronic components, namely, surround sound systems; Wearable computers in the nature of smartwatches and smartglasses; electric sensors; wearable activity trackers; rechargeable electric batteries; cameras; computers; computer monitors; Computer operating software; computer software to operate and monitor cooling function in notebook computers and portable computers; Computer software for playing computer games on the internet and for playing games on notebook computers and portable computers; computer software for the integration of text, audio, graphics, still images and moving pictures into an interactive delivery for multimedia applications; tablet computers; televisions; headphones; portable computers; mobile telephones.”
The U. S. Patent office also published a series of Samsung Galaxy smartphone trademark for the following:
The entire series of trademark filings noted above was filed under International Class 09 covering the following: “Mobile phones; smartphones; digital cameras; portable media players; laptop computers; wireless headsets for mobile phones, smartphones and tablet computers; rechargeable electric batteries; battery chargers; leather cases for mobile phones, smartphones and tablet computers; protective flip covers for mobile phones, smartphones and tablet computers; tablet computers; television receivers; digital set-top boxes; DVD players; light emitting diode displays; computer monitors; liquid crystal display monitors; touchscreen monitors; 3d eye glasses; computers; printers for computers; semiconductors; wireless speakers; headphones; wearable computer peripherals; wearable peripherals for computers, cellphones, and mobile data receivers; smart watches.”
Included in the trademarks is also “Perfect Reality” that refers to terms that cover virtual reality headsets and wearable computers that will presumably be used for the next generation of Gear VR. Also, Samsung filed a trademark for “Turn Everything you Love into 8K” which naturally refers to a new TV, while the trademark “Elitemax” is also filed to cover terms related to a TV and the associated software.
While some of the trademarks are relevant to TV and include a number of smartphone models, the majority seem relevant to a new virtual reality headset that could indicate a new version of Gear VR is on the horizon.
