LEWISTON — Police say it was likely an accident when two people fell Wednesday night from a third-floor porch on Pierce Street.
The incident that sent two people to the hospital remains under investigation, according to a statement from Lewiston Police Department Lt. David St. Pierre.
The two victims are identified as Omar Omar, 41, of New York and Hindia Mohamed, 31, of Lewiston, according to the statement. Omar was transferred to Maine Medical Center in Portland, and Mohamed remains at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, according to the statement.
Police Detective David Levesque also was taken to CMMC after inhaling glass when he kicked down a door while responding to the scene. On Thursday, St. Pierre said Levesque had been treated and released and was back on the job.
At the scene Wednesday night, the side porch railing on the third story of the three-story building was missing. The victims fell onto the paved driveway of the house next door, and a pile of railing slats sat on the ground.
The building is described as a three-family residence owned by Bailbrook Properties LLC of Standish, according to city property records.
