Xiaomi finally launched its second Android One phone in India – the Mi A2 – on Tuesday for starting price of Rs 16,999. The smartphone is available in 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant only. The smartphone starting today will be available for pre-orders. Potential buyers can head to Mi.com or Amazon India to book Mi A2 Android One phone. The pre-orders will go live at 12PM today on both the websites. Amazon has said that the shipping of the phone will start from August 12 onwards.
The Mi A2 is the successor to last year’s Mi A1. To recollect, the Mi A2 was first launched in Europe together with the souped down version, Mi A2 Lite. In India, Xiaomi has launched only the Mi A2. The company during the global launch had said that the Mi A2 Lite will not come to India, at least for now. The highlight of the Mi A2 is its software. Just as the Mi A1, the Mi A2 also runs a stock version of Android and not Xiaomi’s custom ROM MIUI like other phones from the company.
Overall, the Mi A2 is a much-upgraded version of the Mi A1. The Mi A2 comes with a fairly big display. The smartphone sports a 5.99-inch ‘full-screen’ FHD+ IPS LCD display with a 2160x1080p resolution. On the hardware front, the smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor.
As already said, the Mi A2 comes in only one variant. The phone comes with 4GB of RAM memory and 64GB of internal storage which can’t be expanded further. On the software front, the Mi A2 runs a stock version of Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box.
The Mi A2 comes with a dual camera system on the back and single camera module on the front. On the rear, the Mi A2 consists of primary camera of 12-megapixel Sony IMX 486 sensor with an f/1.75 aperture and secondary camera of 20-megapixel Sony IMX 376 sensor, also with f/1.75 aperture. The dual camera setup comes paired with a dual-LED flash. On the front, the Mi A2 comes with a 20-megapixel camera paired with a soft LED flash. The smartphone is backed by a 3,000mAh battery coupled with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4.0 technology. Meaning, the Mi A2 can be charged quickly. The phone charges over USB Type-C.
