Xiaomi just unveiled a game changing smartphone today, called the POCO F1. This is a high-end flagship smartphone with the price tag of a mid-range device. You get the latest hardware and specifications, but you won’t have to pay as much.
The POCO F1 is well built, looks good, and will compete with phones such as the OnePlus 6, Samsung Galaxy S9, Asus Zenfone 5Z, LG G7 ThinQ, Xiaomi Mi 8, and even the brand new Galaxy Note 9. Yes, this phone is that good, at least if you are looking at performance specs.
There are plenty of phones that come with similar hardware as the POCO F1, but it’s the pricing that sets it apart from those. The phone starts at Rs. 20,999, and for that much money, you get the Snapdragon 845 processor, and 6GB RAM and 64GB of storage.

The phone will ship with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with the MIUI on top. And during the announcement today, Xiaomi stated that it would be releasing Android 9.0 Pie software update for the phone.
Right now, the only phones that run Android 9.0 Pie are the Google Pixel phones and the Essential PH-1. Apart from that, OEMs such as OnePlus, Huawei, and Sony are working on bringing the software updates to some of their high-end phones as well. However, that could take a while.
The POCO F1 will apparently be getting the Android 9.0 Pie update first, and that would be great. It would of course be coming with MIUI features and customizations on top of stock Android. The POCO F1 also has a new launcher called the POCO launcher.
So, the POCO F1 is a great smartphone, and it is a game changer for sure. It comes with a 6.18-inch LCD display with Full HD+ resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. There is a notch on front, which houses an IR scanner and the front facing camera for better face unlocking. Now comes the best part about the phone, which is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset.
Xiaomi has also used a new type of cooling technology that uses copper pipes to cool the phone. This means that you can play for much longer, without having to take your hands off the phone. We will have to see how the cooling system works in reality though.
The phone comes with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. It comes with two rear cameras, the main sensor with a 12MP resolution, and a secondary 5MP sensor. Apparently, the main 12MP unit is a newer Sony sensor that can take really good pictures during the day. It can also shoot 4K videos at 60fps, which not a lot of phones can do. The front camera has a 20MP resolution, and AI Portrait features.
Apart from that, the phone has a dual-SIM support, 4G VoLTE, Wi-FI, Bluetooth 5.0LE, A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, USB Type-C port, and even a 3.5mm headphone jack. It also has a large 4000mAh battery, with support for fast charging.
Xiaomi POCO F1 First Sale Date is August 29 in India at Price Starting Rs.20,999
