We have the scoop for Destiny 2 players on where to find Xur, what exotic items he has for sale on September 28, and whether any are worth spending Legendary Shards.
With the weekend nearly here, Destiny 2‘s exotic merchant Xur has finally arrived and is offering new pieces of exotic gear for players to purchase. It’s an easy way to pick up some interesting gear, especially before Bungie ultimately fixes the known issue currently surrounding exotic items, and the increased occurrence of duplicate drops.
While many Destiny 2 players expected the merchant to start selling new gear when Forsaken launched, Bungie later confirmed that Xur won’t be selling anything from Year 2 for a while. However, even though his Year 1 merchandise has been seen before, it comes with randomized rolls, so it’s entirely possible what he has may be better than originally thought.
For now, here’s a rundown on where to find Xur, as well as what he’s offering from September 28 until he departs before Destiny 2‘s next weekly reset.
The new challenge every Friday is discovering where the shifty merchant is in the game world since he’s no longer tethered to the Flashpoint milestone location, and no longer has a big icon displayed on the location map.
For Sept 28, players can find Xur back int he Tower in his usual spot behind Dead Orbit. After landing in The Tower, immediately head left into the Hangar. Next, run down the steps and turn left again. Xur is standing on a landing behind Arach Jalaal and the Dead Orbit faction center.
This week for class armor, Xur has brought two vanilla exotic items and one introduced with Curse of Osiris.
While this item isn’t subclass specific, it pairs pretty well with Voidwalkers who run Attunement of Hunger. The exotic perk is known as Warlord’s Sigil which increases the player’s melee damage each time an enemy is eliminated by a melee strike. It’s not the most interesting of exotics out there, but when used correctly, it can be fairly powerful in PvE.
The nice thing about this particular piece of gear is that it comes with Impact Induction, which feeds right back into Warlord’s Sigil.
Part of the Aeon Cult set, the Swift version grants Grenade energy to Warlocks, Barricade energy to Titans, Dodge energy to Hunters, once the player wearing the gear dodges. Players not part of the Aeon Cult (those wearing their Aeon gear), receive a fraction of the shared energy.
The key is that last line, which makes this piece of gear very hard to recommend. While it still provides bonuses, there are much better and stronger exotic armor out there. It’s highly likely that teammates won’t be wearing this armor and therefore won’t get a major boost from it. The Hunter has much better options available to them at this point, so the Aeon Swift gauntlets should be left alone outside of people looking to complete their Year 1 collections.
A very strong item for Sunbreaker Titans, with many int he community agreeing that it may be the strongest. It’s exotic perk, Sunfire Furnace, improves the recharge rate of all solar abilities, even more so when the player’s Super is fully charged. Either way, this is a can’t miss exotic for Titan players who enjoy swinging or throwing hammers.
Sweet Business is back in the spotlight and from a design perspective, it’s pretty unique. Designed to look like a minigun, this auto rifle is capable of shredding enemies once it spins up to full power. It comes with the perk Payday which gives the gun a larger magazine and increased accuracy when firing from the hip. Business Time increases the range and rate of fire, and automatically loads ammo pickups into the magazine when the player holds down the trigger.
It’s a solid if underused choice within Destiny 2 these days. Titan players who typically use the War Rig exotic may be particularly interested in this weapon as the two items have a bit of synergy thanks to the exotic perk Auto-loading link which steadily reloads a portion of the player’s equipped Auto Rifle’s magazine from reserves.
