Viola Davis says she regrets her role in ‘The Help’
On the red carpet at the Toronto Film Festival this week, award-winning actress Viola Davis was asked by the New York Times if she had any roles she’s regretted. She mentioned her role in the 2011 drama “The Help” about race relations in the south in the 1960s. “I just felt that at the end of the day that it wasn’t the voices of the maids that were heard,” she said. “I know Aibileen. I know Minny. They’re my grandma. They’re my mom. And I know that if you do a movie where the whole premise is, I want to know what it feels like to work for white people and to bring up children in 1963, I want to hear how you really feel about it. I never heard that in the course of the movie.” She did say overall that working on the film was a good experience and she formed friendships that she’ll have throughout her life.
‘Cosby Show’ actor Geoffrey Owens lands acting job
Weeks after “Cosby Show” actor Geoffrey Owens was photographed working at Trader Joe’s in New Jersey — something he said he’s not ashamed of — Page Six reports that the actor and acting coach has landed an on-screen gig on an episode of “NCIS: New Orleans.” Owens reportedly said he took the Trader Joe’s job because the Bill Cosby scandal affected his royalty checks and he was in-between acting jobs. Tyler Perry also has reached out to offer Owens a 10-episode deal on OWN drama “The Haves and the Have Nots.”
