An Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Nintendo Switch version has been confirmed, but when will gamers have the chance to play it on this platform?
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey fans don’t have much longer to wait for the game to come out. The next chapter in Ubisoft’s franchise will land on October 5, with PS4, Xbox One, and PC gamers all ready to drop into Ancient Greece. What about people who own a Nintendo Switch though? Here’s when there will be an Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Nintendo Switch version.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is set to be released on the Nintendo Switch. Unfortunately for those in the Western world, it will only be brought out in Japan on Nintendo’s hybrid console. The Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Nintendo Switch version is following in the footsteps of Capcom’s Resident Evil 7, which also only received a Japanese release on the Switch. The game will also only be streamable from the cloud, so any physical copy of an Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Nintendo Switch version seem farfetched right now.
For Japanese fans who want to play the Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Nintendo Switch version, it will cost around the same price as a normal game. Players can opt to buy a full game pass for 8400 yen (around $74) or a daily pass for 730 yen ($6). This will be of little consolation to US and UK gamers especially, but at least some people will get to play Assassin’s Creed Odyssey on their Switch.
For those in the West who want to play it, your best bet is to get a copy on PS4, Xbox One, or PC. Unless there’s a dramatic shift in Ubisoft’s decision not to release it on Switch – which is likely down to its processing power – then the only alternatives to an Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Nintendo Switch version is buying it for another platform.
