The Redmi 6 series is launched in the Indian market now, and the three budget smartphones in this line-up are all exciting new options in an already saturated smartphone market in the country. The Redmi 6 series comprises of the entry-level Redmi 6A, which succeeds the Redmi 5A; the Redmi 6 which replaced the Redmi 5; and the Redmi 6 Pro, which is the costliest in this series and comes as the higher-end alternative to the Redmi 6.
In this post, we underline the top five features you need to know about the Redmi 6 Pro before you make your buying decision if the new budget mid-range smartphone catches your fancy.
The Redmi 6 Pro sports a 5.84-inch IPS LCD Full HD display with the notch design, making it the first Redmi smartphone to come with a notch. This is a distinctive feature of the Redmi 6 Pro, as both the other phones in the new Redmi 6 series, Redmi 6A and Redmi 6, get full bezels for their display.

The display on the Redmi 6 Pro has thin bezels on the side, a small notch on the top, and a narrow chin at the bottom, making it look very handsome and quite premium too. The display achieves the new 19:9 aspect ratio, about 80 percent screen-to-body ratio, and a brilliant 432 PPI pixel density. The handset is slim, measuring just 8.8mm in thickness, and weighs 178 grams. It has a smooth aluminium back and a vertically aligned dual rear camera, distinguishing it from the Redmi 6, whose rear dual camera is horizontally aligned.
The Redmi 6 Pro has its advantage in a speedy processor as well, with the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset powering it. The 2.0GHz CPU is paired to Adreno 506 graphics processor, and the phone boots Android 8.1 Oreo in a near stock version. All this means that the handset will be excellent in performance, and you will be able to navigate your way easily through the dependable Android software.
Also, the Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A both come with a Mediatek Helio processor, so the Redmi 6 Pro is the only one in the series to get a Snapdragon. As you may know, Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets are known to perform much better than Mediatek chipsets.
Another major plus point with the Redmi 6 Pro is that you get a large 4000mAh battery, which you get only on this handset in the Redmi 6 series. Xiaomi is claiming that the Redmi 6 Pro will keep going for two days on a single full charge, so we reckon that the handset is going to give its competition a quick run for their money.
The Redmi 6 Pro offers a decent 12MP+5MP rear dual camera, and a 5MP front shooter. Both the front and rear cameras get artificial intelligence support, so you have Face Unlock via the front camera, and AI portrait mode for clear bokeh effect. There is HD video recording and HDR mode in both the front and the rear camera, while the rear camera gets LED flash, large pixel size, phase detection autofocus, and electronic image stabilization.
The Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A get Rose Gold, Blue, and Black colour options, while the Redmi 6 Pro gets a distinctive Red colour variant. Recently, Xiaomi launched a Red colour variant for the Redmi Note 5 Pro, and it was mighty popular. We figure that the Redmi 6 Pro too will sell hot in the attractive Red colour option. Other colour options are Blue, Black, and Gold.
