The film will hit theaters nationwide on June 21,2019.
Film fans who cried their way through Toy Story 3 are in for more of the same in the fourth installment of the beloved series.
At least according to one of its biggest stars, Michigan native Tim Allen.
Allen, who has provided the voice for Buzz Lightyear in all three Toy Story films and will do so once again when Toy Story 4 is released in June 2019, appeared on the CBS daytime program « The Talk » on Wednesday, Sept. 26.
Most of the interview was focused on Allen promoting the return of his ABC sitcom « Last Man Standing, » but at one point, co-host Sarah Gilbert asked the Birmingham actor about the highly-anticipated film.
Allen played it close to the vest for the most part, but he did provide some interesting comments.
« Yes, I gotta resist getting emotional. I don’t want to give it away, but this is an incredibly great story, » he said. « … It is so emotional, it’s so funny, it’s so big, the idea they’ve come up with, I’m startled. »
« I couldn’t even get through the last scene. I would love to be a Washington leaker. I just can’t do it. I can’t give any more away. They’ve got great characters but a couple of scenes toward the end were really hard to get through. »
Created by Disney Pixar and directed by Josh Cooley, Toy Story 4 is a follow up to the series previous films released in 2010,1999 and 1995.
The story will follow Woody and Buzz as they embark on a quest to find Woody’s romantic interest, Bo Peep, who was absent from the third film.
Allen’s comments would seem to indicate the upcoming film won’t shy away from emotional drama, which shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise considering the tear-jerking nature of Toy Story 3.
The film will hit theaters nationwide on June 21,2019.
