Bethesda On Nintendo Switch: “We Go Where the Money Is”

Bethesda considers Nintendo Switch a profiable platform even though the company doesn’t plan to releaase Fallout 76 on Switch.
Bethesda and Nintendo joined forces for Switch and so far they had a productive relationship. However, the lack of Fallout 76 on Nintendo Switch raised some question so Bethesda came out to address them. According to Bethesda, they fully support Nintendo Switch as a gaming platform.
The company pointed to the financial viability of releasing games on Nintendo Switch. Speaking in a recent interview, Pete Hines stated that they go where the money is, which is the nature of their business. Nintendo Switch is a great platform to work with and has proven to be profitable for them.
Bethesda developed Skyrim and Doom for Nintendo Switch and both games worked well. But as far as Fallout 76 goes, the nature of the game, as well as Nintendo’s mediocre online infrastructure, forced developers to drop the Switch version.
For Bethesda, Fallout 76 Switch just wasn’t “doable.”
The good news is that Bethesda considers Switch for pretty much every game they develop. This also means Starfield and The Elder Scrolls 6 were discussed. But not every game can be ported to Switch due to its hardware limitations. Nintendo Switch is a handheld device with limited horsepower under the hood. There is only so much this platform can handle.
Hence, we may not even see The Elder Scrolls 6 and Starfield release on Switch.
