Sony Bend’s PS4 exclusive zombie survival title Days Gone has once again been delayed from its February 22nd release date, but this time by only a few months.
Sony Bend’s PS4 post-apocalyptic zombie survival title Days Gone has been delayed once again. Where the title was once set to release on February 22,2019, Days Gone will now release on April 26,2019.
Developer Sony Bend will use this additional time to further polish Days Gone, according to Sony Marketing Vice President Asad Qizilbash. It is unclear if Days Gone wouldn’t have made its release date for February or if this delay was necessary for delivering a quality product.

We want to share a change in release date for this highly anticipated title from Bend Studio. We recently decided to move the release of Days Gone from the crowded February time frame to April 26,2019. While the studio is eager to see Days Gone in the hands of fans, Bend Studio will take the opportunity to further polish Days Gone. As PlayStation fans already know, Days Gone is an open-world action game set in the high-desert of the Pacific Northwest. Traversing harsh landscapes on their drifter bike, players must fight for resources as they attempt to survive broken roads, unpredictable weather, attacks from other human factions, infected wildlife and roaming Freakers — a brutal, dynamic world that is dangerous both day and night.
Although Sony didn’t make mention of the February 22nd release date, it likely played a factor in the decision to delay Days Gone. Several games had pegged the date for their own release, including the highly anticipated BioWare shooter Anthem. No doubt Days Gone would have held its own sales-wise against a title like Anthem, but it’s better not to take any chances.
April seems to be a solid release month for Sony anyway, who found great success launching God of War on April 20th of this year. That title went on to break several sales records for Sony, the PS4, and the GOW franchise, so Days Gone should, at the very least, get a decent turnout.
Even with the date, Days Gone is a new IP for Sony and it’s one that doesn’t have as much buzz around it or IP clout as this year’s exclusives God of War and Spider-Man. In fact, if Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us 2 is also set to release in 2019 that would give Sony two post-apocalyptic PS4 games with an outbreak survival theme.
All that is to say Days Gone might do just fine as a PS4 exclusive developed by Sony Bend, but there are also a lot of question marks regarding its long-term viability. Luckily, Sony Bend now has a lot of time to help convince PS4 owners why Days Gone is worth playing.
