Sen. Lindsey Graham (R., S. C.) announced Tuesday he would take a DNA test to find out if he had more Cherokee blood than Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D., Mass.).
Graham told « Fox & Friends » that he heard his grandmother was part Cherokee, so he would take the test and then reveal the results live on the show in a few weeks.
« You’re going to find out in a couple weeks, » Graham said. « I’m going to take this test… I’m taking it, and the results are going to be revealed here. This is my Trump moment. This is reality TV. »
Graham quipped he was « dying to know. »
Warren drew mockery from conservatives after a test’s analysis released Monday showed her Native American ancestor could go back as many as 10 generations and thus make her as little as 1/1,024th Native American.
« I think I can beat her, » Graham said.
Warren has taken heat for years for listing herself as Native American as a law professor at multiple universities, without being able to document said heritage. President Donald Trump has long derided her as « Pocahontas. »
Graham joked at the end of the interview he would probably wind up being « Iranian. »
« That would be, like, terrible, » the hawkish lawmaker said.
Fox News host Brian Kilmeade quickly jumped in to say the Iranians were good people but had bad leaders.
Warren said last month she would take a « hard look » at running for president against Trump in 2020, and her aggressive move to put her ancestry controversy behind her seemed to be another sign she will take the plunge.
