Speed is believed to be a factor.
BAY CITY, MI — A motorcyclist is dead after colliding with a sedan on a one-way street on Bay City’s West Side.
The crash occurred about 5:47 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 24. A sedan and a motorcycle were heading east on West Thomas Street near Raymond Street, according to Bay City Public Safety Capt. Joseph Lanava.
The sedan’s driver signaled to make a lane change and, as she was doing so, the motorcycle crashed into her driver’s side door, police said. Lanava said multiple witnesses said the motorcyclist was traveling at a high rate of speed, and thus investigators believe it was a contributing factor.
Emergency responders pronounced the motorcyclist, a Bay City man about 32 years old, deceased at the scene. The driver of the sedan was taken to McLaren Bay Region hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, Lanava said.
The incident remains under investigation and the name of the motorcyclist has not been released.
