The Jason Bateman crime drama “Ozark” has been renewed for a third season, Netflix announced Wednesday. The series was recently nominated for five Emmy awards, including Bateman for Lead Actor and Outstanding Directing.
Season 2 was released in August, and picked up the story of the Byrde family where Season 1 left off. Just as Marty, Wendy (Laura Linney) and the kids are settling in, the crime syndicate sends ruthless attorney Helen Pierce (Janet McTeer) to shaken them up. Marty and Wendy struggle to balance their family life with the escalating dangers presented by their partnerships with the power-hungry Snells, the cartel and their new deputy, Ruth Langmore (Julia Garner), whose father Cade (Trevor Long) has been released from prison.

Bateman directed several episodes in the first two seasons, and serves as executive producer in addition to starring as Marty Byrde. Chris Mundy also executive produced and wrote for the series. Bill Dubuque and Mark Williams created the series and also executive produce. “Ozark” is produced by Bateman’s Aggregate Films in association with Media Rights Capital for Netflix.
In a post on Twitter, Bateman said that he’s excited for the third season — even if that means he’s worried for his character Marty.
Seasons 1 and 2 of “Ozark” are currently streaming on Netflix.
