Razer has finally launched the Razer Phone 2. The device comes with major improvements over its predecessor. The gaming handset will be available for pre-order at 12:31 pm (IST) tonight. With the Razer Phone 2, the company has tried to offer a gaming and a flagship phone in one. Razer Phone 2 comes with the best in class hardware for mobile gaming and includes premium-grade features. Let’s take a look at the features and specifications of the newly-launched handset.
The Razer Phone 2 features a 5.7-inch screen boasting a 120Hz 1440 x 2560 pixels IGZO display. The device is powered by a Snapdragon 845, paired with 8GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage. Razer has provided the device with a cooling system for keeping the device stable during extended gaming sessions and multitasking. The “vapor-chamber” cooling system allows the heat to spread throughout the device via a custom vapor chamber which increases the surface area for heat to dissipate.
The Razer Phone 2 comes with a massive 4,000mAh battery that supports Qualcomm’s QuickCharge+. The device also supports wireless charging. In fact, the company has even launched its own wireless charger that features Chroma LED lighting effects. The Chroma effects illuminate the Razer logo as well.
In the imaging department, the Razer Phone 2 features a new dual-camera set up comprising a standard 12MP wide angle sensor with optical image stabilization, along with a 12MP telephoto lens. Both the camera units are Sony IMX sensors. The camera on the front supports 60FPS FHD video. Compared to the camera units on the Razer Phone, the Razer Phone 2 brings a solid upgrade. The camera units also get portrait mode, a new beauty mode, and a better panorama mode. Razer has also added low-light improvements to the device.
On the software front, Razer has provided some brand new features. The company has brought Razer Cortex to the Razer Phone 2. The Razer Cortex is a major part of the company’s software portfolio on PC. The Razer Cortex helps you discover a curated list of popular mobile games and it allows you to utilize the Game Booster software for launching games and optimization.
One of the major improvements that the Razer Phone 2 brings is that it is IP67 water resistant. Although the device retains the same speakers on the front, the dedicated amp for each speaker makes them even louder.
The device is offered in two variants: Mirro and Satin. The Mirror back variant features 64GB storage, while the Satin finish version will offer 128GB onboard storage. The Mirror version goes on pre-orders tonight, while the Satin version will be released later this year. The Razer Phone 2 is priced at $799. You can pre-order at 12:31 pm (IST) tonight, and the shipping starts soon.
