Carruth’s trial and subsequent imprisonment served as one of the most tragic and scandalous stories in the history of American sports. (RELATED: Former NFL Star Set To Be Released From Prison. The Details Are Controversial)
In 2001, Carruth was convicted of conspiracy to commit murder, but found not guilty of first degree murder, which is why he is eligible for parole.
Carruth and Adams’ child survived the shooting, but is currently living with cerebral palsy.
Carruth has expressed a desire to see his child, but Adams’ mother (who has raised the child) has said that she will fight that.
