Of the many takeaways from Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh’s intense congressional testimony last week, one of the most memorable was his admission of enjoying beer.
When asked by prosecutor Rachel Mitchell if he consumed alcohol during his high school years, Judge Kavanaugh said, “Yes, we drank beer — my friends and I. Boys and girls. Yes, we drank beer.”
“I liked beer,” Kavanaugh insisted. “Still like beer.”
Not all beers are the same, and different types of people prefer different types of beer. Which kind of beer do you think Judge Kavanaugh enjoys most? Does he strike you as someone who would sip a light, foamy lager or Hefeweizen? Perhaps he prefers a dark stout or a heavy porter? Maybe he likes to maintain a judicious balance and keep to an amber ale?
Regardless of his preferred brew, hopefully, Kavanaugh will not be following the lead of fellow justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg if he is confirmed. After famously nodding off during President Obama’s 2015 State of the Union, Ginsburg admitted that she was not “100-percent sober” at the time.
