Diablo Immortal Reveal Was “Bait-n-Switch” Says Producer

Diablo 2 producer, Mark Kern recently dicussed the horrible reveal of Diablo Immortal. He says that Blizzard doesn’t understand gamers anymore.
After a huge Diablo: Immortal Reveal backlash, Diablo 2 Producer has shared his words on the reveal and he’s very disappointed. Mark Kern who worked on Diablo 2 says that Blizzard doesn’t understand the gamers anymore.
Mark Kern mentioned that he’s not disappointed because of it being a mobile game but the way it was presented, teased and revealed by Blizzard.
Kern says that the way Diablo was teased, PC players of the game were at least expecting it to be something related to their platform which turned it into “a huge bait-n-switch feeling moment.”
He also said that the team would have predicted this type of response years back. At that time, the team was full of hardcore gamers who would definitely tell that it’s a bad move to save them from such an awful reveal event.
Obviously, this all could have been avoided by announcing Diablo 4 which has been in news for almost forever. Blizzard Entertainment could have just said that they are working on a new Diablo game for PC and it could all have been a lot different than it is now.
There’s a massive amount of players who are angry at Blizzard. Interestingly, it has been reported that they are now removing negative comments from Youtube to cover the backlash.
Though Blizzard realized it later and confirmed that Diablo 4 is in works in a way.
As for Diablo Immortal, it’s an online-only game and it’s going to provide authentic Diablo experience on the go. It’s worth a try even if you didn’t like the announcement.
