The National Board of Review selected Peter Farrelly’s Green Book as its 2018 Best Film winner. The drama stars Viggo Mortensen as an Italian-American bouncer who becomes the driver for an African-American classical pianist, played by Mahershala Ali. In addition, Mortensen took home the award for Best Actor.
The Universal film was released this past weekend in 1,063 North American locations, grossing a disappointing $5.5 million for the three-day holiday weekend. Landing in ninth place, Green Book will face an uphill challenge to remain in theaters through December, though the press from the NBR win could help in major cities.
