A report about a mystery Honor smartphone indicates the company could be readying the Honor V20, which will succeed the Honor V10.
A new mystery Honor smartphone has surfaced online. The smartphone from Huawei’s majorly online sub-brand has quite a few interesting design choices that go against the general direction in which the smartphones are headed. This handset we are talking is none other than the popular Honor V10 successor, the Honor V20 which has received China’s 3C and CMIIT (China Ministry of Industry and Information Technology) certificate. Two new devices, carrying model numbers such as Huawei VCE-AL00 and Huawei VCE-TL00 has received the green light from both these certificate authorities.
We believe that these new Honor device will be christened as the Honor V20. The Honor V10 was launched during this time last year. Hence if the reports are accurate, the Honor V20 might just launch soon. Let’s have a look at the specifications, features, and other important aspects of the leaked Honor smartphone.
According to the rumors, the Honor V20 takes a rather traditional approach than what Honor has opted for its latest smartphones. The recently launched Honor Magic 2 sports a slide-out mechanism for the front-facing camera. The mechanism is helpful in boosting the screen real estate by eliminating the need for a notch.
However, for the Honor V20, the company is going back to the basics and sticking to a simplistic design. The as yet unannounced Honor smartphone will reportedly sport a water-drop notch at the top to house the single front camera. Needless to mention, the design choice is quite similar to the Honor 8X and 8X Max. Moreover, the Honor V20 will feature an IPS LCD display. The exact size of the display is not known, but we believe Honor will retain the Full HD+ resolution with a tall aspect ratio.
The Honor V20 will reportedly have a triple-camera setup on the back as well as a traditional fingerprint scanner. Although the exact specifications haven’t been leaked yet, another report about the device hints the Honor V20 could feature the same triple-camera setup as that on the Honor Magic 2. In other words, the mystery Honor smartphone could have 16MP + 24MP + 16MP camera setup.
An interesting aspect about the rumored Honor V20 is the Fast Charging ability. The Honor V20’s battery could support a 22.5W Fast Charging charger. The battery capacity isn’t known yet, but given so many similarities with the Honor Magic 2, the Honor V20 just might pack a 3,500mAh battery.
Incidentally, the Honor smartphone will pack Huawei’s latest HiSilicon Kirin 980 processor that boasts of a dual NPU feature. To complement the SoC, the Honor device could sport 6GB or even 8GB RAM and proportionally high internal memory.
According to the source, Honor is in the final stages of developing the Honor V20, and could launch the device in this month itself. As is the norm, Honor would launch the device first in China, but should bring the device to India soon.
The Honor V10 launched at a starting price of CNY 2,699 or about INR 28,000. The price was valid for the 4GB/64GB variant. The 6GB/128GB variant cost CNY 2,999 or about INR 31,000. The V20 could sport a slightly higher price tag.
