Man accused of setting couple up to be robbed by masked accomplice

Both have lengthy rap sheets and face possible life in prison.
MUSKEGON COUNTY, MI – A Muskegon man is accused of barging into an apartment, with his face masked and brandishing a gun, to rob the occupants who allegedly were set up by a visitor.
Jeremy Rashad Honore, 24, has been charged with two counts of armed robbery for the incident that occurred Oct. 21 at the Glen Oaks Apartments in Muskegon.
He is accused of entering through an unlocked door, pointing a handgun at a man and woman inside and telling them to give him everything they had, according to Muskegon County Chief Assistant Prosecutor Timothy Maat.
It’s alleged he choked the male victim as he went through the man’s pockets, Maat said.
Visiting with the victims at the time was another man who lives in the apartment complex, Maat said. Ricardo Leerontae McGhee, 25, also has been charged with armed robbery and is believed to have set the victims up, Maat said.
« It’s alleged he was involved with the masked gunman, » Maat said. It’s alleged that at one point McGhee prevented the female victim from leaving, he said.
It’s alleged the robbers got away with money, marijuana and the prescription narcotic suboxone, according to court records.
Both suspects are lodged in the Muskegon County Jail on $500,000 cash or surety bonds.
Honore and McGhee have lengthy juvenile records and are charged as four-time habitual offenders. They face up to life in prison.
McGhee’s juvenile record includes 2008 felony convictions for receiving and concealing a stolen vehicle, resisting and obstructing police, fleeing and eluding police, unlawfully driving away a vehicle and two counts of breaking and entering.
He has adult convictions for carrying a concealed weapon in 2013, attempted unlawful use of a motor vehicle in 2017 and attempted resisting and obstructing police in 2018.
Honore’s juvenile record includes felony convictions for resisting and obstructing police in 2007, unarmed robbery in 2008, home invasion in 2010 and resisting and obstructing police in 2010.
Honore’s adult felony convictions include attempted resisting and obstructing in 2011, two counts of resisting and obstructing in 2012, unarmed robbery in 2014 and possession of a controlled substance in 2014.
