A Minneapolis ceremony on Sunday marked the 100th anniversary of the World War I Armistice, when guns fell silent after an estimated 14 million had perished.
At the “Bells of Peace” remembrance, held at the University of Minnesota’s Northrup Auditorium in Minneapolis, the names of the 1,024 Minnesotans killed in combat were read aloud.
This followed the ringing of a bell 21 times, and the playing of taps.
