Do you need to know how to complete the Red Dead Redemption 2 Hosea book errand? Here’s what it is and where to find the novel.
The Red Dead Redemption 2 Hosea book errand is one of the earliest optional side quests you can conduct in the game. It’s not a mission that’s attached to any major plot device but, if you wish to get the Errand Boy achievement or trophy, you’ll want to complete this one. Here’s how to do it.
From the beginning of Chapter 2, you’ll have the option to look at a book on the table in Hosea’s tent. After you examine it, you’ll be given the side mission to locate a specific novel that Hosea would love to read. Arthur will automatically accept the request, but it won’t be something that you have to complete if you aren’t interested in it. If you are though, read on to find out where to locate it.
Once you have the side quest, you’ll want to head East to the section of the map labelled “Bayou.” Head to an area called “Hagen Orchards”, and there should be a cabin within that region. If you’re stuck on where exactly the cabin is, set a waypoint so that it’s located under the “O” in Bayou, and you’ll be in the right area. Or see the image below, whichever’s easiest.
Enter the cabin once you find it, and the book – titled “The Shrew of the Fog” should be sitting on the table in the main room. Pick it up, and head back to camp to deliver it to Hosea. He’ll give you a predator bait item as a reward, which is extremely useful when tracking and defeating those legendary animals.
Just be aware that you’ll need to complete this errand before Chapter 4 ends if you want to find the novel. You won’t be able to find it after that point, so make sure you check Hosea’s tent between chapters two and four.
