New Delhi [India]: The First Lady of South Korea, Kim Jung-sook, on Wednesday concluded her visit to India and departed for her country.
During the visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the First Lady on November 5 and exchanged views on promoting people-to-people exchanges between the two nations.
The Prime Minister also recalled the successful visit of President Moon Jae-in to India in July this year, which gave a new direction to India-South Korea Special Strategic Partnership.
Earlier that day, the First Lady of India, Savita Kovind hosted a luncheon for the visiting dignitary at Rashtrapati Bhawan. Minister of External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj, also called on Kim the same day.
Kim then visited Ayodhya on November 6, where she was the Chief Guest at the Deepotsav event organised by the Uttar Pradesh government. She also led the ground-breaking ceremony for the new memorial of Queen Suriratna (Huh Hwang-ok) in Ayodhya that day.
Ayodhya and Korea have a deep historical connection through the legendary Princess Suriratna of Ayodhya, who traveled to Korea in 48 CE and married the Korean King Suro. The First Lady’s participation in the festivities in Ayodhya highlighted the close historic links as well as the ongoing deepening engagements between the two countries.
First Lady Kim also visited the Taj Mahal earlier today before emplaning for Seoul.
