Do you hear that? It’s the sound of credit cards throughout the land preparing for a workout. We are days away from Black Friday, where neighbor battles neighbor to snatch up a discounted TV, game console, or other must-have holiday gift in the dead of night.
Black Friday is no longer a one-day event. Stores are already discounting items in anticipation of the big day, and many « Black Friday » deals kick off on Thanksgiving Day. Our own Sascha Segan would prefer you keep yourself at home, full of gravy, and spare retail workers from having to deal with your insatiable desire to score a deal on Thanksgiving Day.
But Target and others will have none of that. It will be open from 5 p.m. local time on Thanksgiving until 1 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 23 before re-opening again at 7 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 23.Black Friday deals go live online early in the morning of Thanksgiving on Target.com.
No matter how you plan to shop, there are plenty of deals for the taking. Check out some of the best tech-related discounts below.
Amazon isn’t the only place to get Echo speakers. On Black Friday, Target will have discounts on the second-gen Echo Dot, as well as the newer third-gen Echo Dot and the larger Echo speaker.
The Amazon Fire 7 tablet makes a good basic video player and color ebook reader, and it’s very easy to use. On Black Friday, Target will drop the price of the 8GB version by $20 to a can’t-miss $29.99. The Kids Edition will also be $30 off at $69.99
For a sleeker, but pricier, tablet experience, Apple’s newest iPad will start at just $249 for the 32GB version on Black Friday, down from $329. It runs a faster processor than its predecessor and adds Apple Pencil support, something previously relegated to the iPad Pro lineup. It’s our Editors’ Choice for tablets.
If you’re a Google household, adding a Google Home smart speaker to your smart home setup is a no-brainer. On Black Friday, Target will discount the new touch-screen Google Home Hub, as well as the original Google Home and Home Mini.
These days, it’s easier than ever to cut the cord, thanks to plug-and-play media streamers from the likes of Google, Amazon, and Roku. Just hook up to Wi-Fi, sign into Netflix or Amazon Video, and you’ll forget why you ever subscribed to pay TV in the first place. If you have yet to jump on the dongle bandwagon, Target has you covered on Black Friday:
The Apple Watch Series 4 has some nice new bells and whistles, but if you love Cupertino’s smartwatch but not the price, check out the last-generation Series 3. The GPS version will start at just $199.99 at Target, while the GPS + Cellular option can be had for $299.99 on Black Friday, a discount of $80 on both.
If watchOS is not your thing, the Tizen-based Samsung Galaxy Watch promises five days of battery life, as well as fitness and sleep tracking, heart rate monitoring, and intelligent notifications with Bixby integration. On Black Friday, it will be $259.99 at Target, a $70 discount.
For an even more affordable fitness tracker, the Fitbit lineup will also get a Black Friday discount at Target.
If you’re listening to music during your workout, you’ll probably need some durable headphones or earbuds. In our review, we found that the Bose SoundSport Wireless deliver the thunderous bass and the comfortable design you want in gym-focused earphones—at a price. On Black Friday, they’ll get a $50 discount at Target; get them for just $99.99.
Beats headphones are a Black Friday staple; at Target, you can get the Beats Solo3 for $179.99, a nice $120 discount. In our review, we found they deliver a balanced Bluetooth audio experience for bass lovers, but feel a tad expensive—something that won’t be an issue on Black Friday.
We also docked the Bose SoundLink Micro for its price, but otherwise found that it offers impressive Bluetooth audio performance for its size. On Black Friday, Target will sell it for $69.99, a $30 discount.
The JBL Flip 4 speaker delivers strong Bluetooth audio from its modest, waterproof frame. Target will have it for $59.99, a $40 discount.
The Nest Cam Indoor is a dual-band Wi-Fi surveillance camera that offers crisp 1080p video, motion and sound detection, and integration with other Nest devices. It’s a snap to install, but you have to pay to view recorded video. You can get it for $129 at Target on Black Friday, a $71 discount.
The Ring Video Doorbell is among our picks for the best video doorbells. At Target, it’ll get a $50 discount on Black Friday, dropping to just $99.99. Who knows, you might capture the next smart doorbell viral video.
Chromebooks are all the rage in classrooms, but if you’ve been eyeing one for yourself or your star pupil, Target will have an 11.6-inch HP Chromebook for $119.99, an $80 discount. The HP X360 convertible touch-screen Chromebook will also get a $100 discount to $199.99.
Black Friday b-roll footage is mostly people hulking out and throwing elbows to grab a massive television at a discount. This year, there will likely be more of that, with a few more 4K TVs in the mix. Target has a number of sets on offer, including this 50-inch Samsung smart UHD TV for $329.99 (down from $450).
One of the more popular items during last year’s Black Friday and this year’s Amazon Prime Day were DNA testing kits. Target will sell the 23andMe Personal Ancestry DNA Test Kit for $59, down from $99.99, and also throw in a $10 gift card.
For the tiny tinkerer on your list, the Kano Computer Kit helps those ages 6+ build their own PCs. On Black Friday, it’ll be $99.99, a $50 discount.
Whether you’re looking for a new creative outlet or just want to share physical images with friends and family, Fujifilm’s affordable Instax Mini 9 camera delivers. On Black Friday, it’ll be $59.99, a $10 discount, and Target will throw in a $15 gift card.
The GoPro Hero7 Black adds stabilization to 4K60 video, and is the lone Hero with live streaming support. As it’s the newest action cam in GoPro’s lineup, it won’t get a discount on Black Friday, but you can nab a $60 Target gift card with your purchase.
