Chances are you’ll be watching football and eating – a lot – on Thanksgiving Day. And, of course, visiting with friends and family.
But in case you get the itch to go out, here’s a little rundown of some places in Orange County that will be closed on the holiday – plus a nod to retailers that actually will be open.
Thanksgiving Day is one of 10 federal holidays in 2018, so all non-essential federal, state and county offices will be closed. That includes the post office, so no mail delivery.
Thanksgiving Day is considered a bank holiday, so most banks are closed. Fortunately for those planning to shop on Black Friday, ATMs aren’t taking the day off. Banks reopen Friday as well.
As your kids no doubt already are well aware, school will be closed for the holiday.
Many grocery stores will be open with adjusted hours. Some retailers that will be open on Thanksgiving Day, according to bestblackfriday.com, include Best Buy, JCPenney, Kohl’s, Macy’s, Target, Sears and Walmart.
Closures and hours vary, so call ahead. Here are some of the restaurants serving Thanksgiving dinner around Orange County and much of Southern California.
There’s no regular collection on the holiday.
All Orange County Transportation Authority buses will operate on Sunday/holiday schedules on Thanksgiving Day. Metrolink trains also will operate on a limited Sunday schedule.
