Apart from the great specifications, Xiaomi Mi A2 keeps the users hooked with timely updates. Since the device belongs to an Android One family, it receives the latest security patches and other updates on a regular basis. If you happen to own a Mi A2, you will receive the notification shortly. You can also head over to Mi forum and look for more details.
Available as the version 10 (10.0.1) in Beta, the update brings Android Pie upgrade to the smartphone. The update has been released and will reach the users shortly. The Android Pie update had been long requested by the users and the Chinese smartphone maker has brought the update within the promised timeline. If you don’t receive the update notification, you can also head over to ‘Settings’ in your device and find ‘System’. Tap on the ‘System Updates’ to check if you have received it.
Further, Xiaomi has also released the November security patch that comes with some stability improvements and bug fixes. It is interesting to note that the smartphone maker released the latest security patch on November 2, but it was available to the public from November 6. Now, the company has rolled out yet another Android 8.1 version 9.6.17 (beta) update that brings the November security fix. The complete version of the update goes by V9.6.17.0. ODIMIFE. Some of the users have already reported receiving the security patch and that the update doesn’t fix anything major.
While the Xiaomi Mi A2 ( review) is a popular handset in China, it gathers mixed reviews in the Indian market. While some of the users have issues with the small battery and the non-expandable storage, the other specs and the timely software updates make it up for the disappointment. Speaking of storage, Xiaomi has recently released 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant of the smartphone in India, which should overshadow the storage expansion issue.
To recall, the Xiaomi Mi A2 comes with a 5.99-inch IPS LCD screen with 1080 x 2160 pixels resolution and an aspect ratio of 18:9. The smartphone comes with a low screen-to-body ratio of 77.4%. Compared to its rivals, the Mi A2 does not impress with the display specifications. Under the hood, the handset is powered by a Snapdragon 660 processor, combined with an Adreno 512 GPU. In the imaging department, the Xiaomi Mi A2 gets a combination of a 12MP primary lens and a 20MP sensor at the rear for handling the poor-lighting shots. On the front, the smartphone gets a powerful 20MP snapper for selfies and video calling. The smartphone features a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner along with sensors like accelerometer, gyro, proximity, and compass.
Like we mentioned earlier, the device disappoints in the battery department with a 3000mAh battery. However, the Indian variant of the device supports Quick Charge 4.0. On the connectivity front, you get options like Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, WiFi Direct, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BDS, Bluetooth 5.0 with LE, Type-C USB. The device measures 158.7 x 75.4 x 7.3 mm and weighs in at 166 grams.
