Large-scale protests against rising fuel prices began in France on November 17. The initiators were French drivers, as well as a number of trade unions and political parties. The protesters are calling themselves « Yellow Vests » – in accordance with the colour of the reflective cape that drivers wear to attract attention and prevent accidents.
During the demonstrations, more than 500 people were injured; 17 of them received serious injuries.
