Apple is expected to start manufacturing its flagship grade smartphones in India from 2019. Foxconn is assumed to be manufacturing the units in Sriperumbudur.
When Apple unveiled the iPhone X last year, people were baffled by the exorbitant price of the handset. The iPhone X was out of reach for most people and older iPhone 8 models were the only one that sold. 2018’s iPhone XS range crept up to even higher prices, with the base version starting above Rs 1 lakh. Even the budget iPhone XR started from Rs 77,000. This was the reason consumers are still preferring the older iPhone models. Apple certainly doesn’t want that and plans to make it new models a tad cheaper.
According to a new report by The Economic Times, Apple is planning to initiate the production of its premium iPhone models in the country.
