WhatsApp Messenger is a cross-platform messaging and VoIP application that was originally launched in the year 2009. At the time of its launch, only a handful of companies manufactured smartphones. Android and iOS are currently the leading smartphone operating systems but the scenario was completely different a decade ago. According to WhatsApp, 70 percent of mobile phones sold at that time had operating systems offered by Nokia and BlackBerry.
