CES 2019 is underway and Nvidia made a number of announcements one of which is the G-Sync support for FreeSync monitors. While Nvidia didn’t reveal why but, it seems that VESA Adaptive-Sync monitors far outnumber the Nvidia G-Sync ones.
G-sync was exclusive to only Nvidia GPUs, meaning if you have Nvidia GPU, only then you can use G-Sync on your monitor. FreeSync, on the other hand, is an open standard.
The difference between monitors with Nvidia G-sync and FreeSync is the price as both perform the same functions. Nvidia G-Sync supported monitors are expensive compared to FreeSync monitors.
This is the reason FreeSync monitors far outnumber Nvidia G-Sync supported monitors. In simple words, it was a losing battle for Nvidia and the company made a smart move by bringing G-Sync Support to FreeSync Monitors.
