An acclaimed multimedia performance that explores the power of music through the prism of the Kronos Quartet will land at the Detroit Institute of Arts as part of this year’s Freep Film Festival.
The Grammy-winning Kronos is the centerpiece of « A Thousand Thoughts, » performing live to accompany the film, which explores the group’s storied four-decade career — a revered run that has been defined by an adventurous approach and collaborations with some of the most prominent names in classical and popular music.
The film’s co-director Sam Green — who was born in Detroit, grew up in East Lansing and graduated from the University of Michigan — is Oscar-nominated for the 2002 documentary « The Weather Underground.
