PC MAKER Lenovo has taken to Mobile World Congress to show off upgrades to its, er, mid-range ThinkPad and IdeaPad laptops.
They’re not quite as exciting as a bendy 5G smartphone, but first up are the smallest ThinkPad and its convertible sibling; the ThinkPad X390 ( above) and X390 Yoga. Gone is the tiny 12.5in screen found on Lenovo’s X200 series laptops, and instead you’ll find a larger 13.3in 1920×1080 display squeezed into the same-sized chassis thanks to a 50 per cent reduction in bezel size.
Underneath, there’s an 8th-gen Intel Core vPro i7 processor and to 1TB of PCIe SSD storage, and up to 16GB or 32GB RAM depending on whether you opt for the standard or convertible model.
Lenovo says this ThinkPad X390, which also offers WiFi 6 connectivity, will offer up to 18 hours on battery power, while the X390 Yoga will offer up to 14.5.
With a focus on enterprise buyers, the ThinkPad X390 features Lenovo’s nifty PrivacyGuard feature, which uses its embedded IR camera to detect if someone is looking over your shoulder.
