Tobias Harris trade adds to Nets’ deadline frustration

The Nets may have just lost two All-Star caliber power forward targets this week. Or at least they will have to try and pry them from different teams.
Brooklyn had interest in Kristaps Porzingis and Tobias Harris, and after the Knicks shockingly shipped the injured unicorn to the Mavericks last week, the Clippers traded Harris to the Sixers on Wednesday in a deal first reported by ESPN.
Harris has long been at the very top of the Nets’ free-agent target list, and the Post wrote about them targeting him in November and again last month. And right after the Harris trade was reported, Zach Harper of The Athletic tweeted his money was still on the 76ers likely losing Harris to the Nets this summer because finances could hinder Philadelphia from bringing him back.
It’s not surprising, with him being a perfect positional fit in Brooklyn and Harris growing up just 14 miles from coach Kenny Atkinson on Long Island. Atkinson has known the 26-year-old power forward since Harris’ days at Half Hollow Hills West High School.
