« Being black in America should not be a death sentence.”
The FBI have launched a probe into the arrest of a black man in Minneapolis who died after an officer pinned him to the ground by a knee to the neck as the man yelled “I can’t breathe,” after a video of the incident surfaced on social media Monday night.
The video drew widespread condemnation from social media users and local officials alike, with Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey denouncing the officer involved, saying he “failed in the most basic, human sense.” Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), who has faced criticism for declining to prosecute officers involved in fatal shootings of black men when she was a prosecutor, said it was “a tragic loss of life” and called for a “thorough outside investigation.
