A Georgia Bureau of Investigation official said Friday the agency “would have preferred” to be asked to investigate the shooting of Ahmaud Arbery much sooner — and are now probing “everybody involved” in the case, including the man who shot the now-viral video.
Arbery,25, who is black, was jogging on Feb.23 when he was fatally shot in a scuffle with father-and-son pair Gregory McMichael,64, and Travis McMichael,34, who approached him in their pick-up truck.
The GBI got involved Tuesday, at the request of Glynn County Police and Atlantic Judicial Circuit District Attorney Tom Durden, now prosecuting the case, WXIA-TV reported.
